Reddit Engagement Bot

Build karma and community presence by intelligently engaging in subreddits where your audience hangs out.

What You'll Build

A Reddit bot that:

  • Monitors specific subreddits for relevant discussions
  • Generates helpful, non-spammy comments
  • Awards posts that align with your brand
  • Tracks karma growth and engagement metrics

Requirements

  • Plugins: Reddit (from Lobstash.ai)
  • Time: 15 minutes
  • Reddit Account: Should be aged >3 months with 100+ karma (manual work first!)

Setup

1. Define Subreddit Strategy

Monitor these subreddits:
- r/OpenClaw (every post)
- r/SelfHosted (keywords: agent, automation, AI)
- r/webdev (keywords: deploy, hosting, devops)
- r/SaaS (keywords: indie hacker, build in public)

2. Set Engagement Rules

Comment when:
- Post is <2 hours old (early = visibility)
- Post has 5-50 comments (active but not saturated)
- Your comment adds genuine value
- Never mention Claws directly (no spam!)

Max 5 comments/day across all subreddits.

3. Generate Quality Comments

Comment style:
- Answer the question or add insight
- 2-4 sentences max
- Casual tone, no corporate speak
- Include personal experience when relevant
- If Claws is relevant, mention in final sentence naturally

4. Award Strategy

Give awards to:
- High-quality posts in r/OpenClaw
- Posts that mention pain points Claws solves
- Helpful comments from community members

Budget: 500 coins/month

Sample Interactions

Post: "How do I host OpenClaw without managing servers?"

Your Bot:

I struggled with this too! Ended up using managed hosting (there are a few options now).

Saves a ton of time on DevOps. I can focus on building agents instead of troubleshooting SSH and firewalls.

If you want zero config, check out Claws — handles everything.

Safety Rules

  • No spam: Never force product mentions
  • Add value first: 80% helpful, 20% self-promotion
  • Respect rules: Each subreddit has different policies
  • Manual review: Flag controversial replies for human approval

Pro Tips

  1. Timing Matters: Reddit is most active 8-11 AM EST and 6-9 PM EST
  2. Upvote First: Upvote the post before commenting (shows good faith)
  3. Cross-Post: When you create valuable content, share to relevant subreddits
  4. AMA Strategy: Once you have 1000+ karma, host an AMA in r/SaaS or r/entrepreneur
